I read the book Pleasing the Ghosts. It was about a boy that saw ghosts. One of the ghosts that entered his room was a police officer. One of the special ghosts that came in his room was his uncle. His uncle had suffered from a stroke. He could not understand his uncle because his words came out funny.

His Uncle wanted to do three things before he left the kids house. The boy could not understand his uncle very well so it was hard to please him. The boy finally found out the first thing his uncle wanted to do. He wanted to give his wife a letter he wrote to her for her birthday. After he wrote the letter he put it in a book. His uncle had died before he had a chance to give her the letter. The boy was rummaging through his aunts stuff when he came across the letter. He handed her the letter. Even though his aunt could not understand the letter she thought it was beautiful. He had done the first thing on his uncle's list. The next thing he had to do was finish the painting in the attic. For this task the boy offered to clean his aunt's attic. When he was up there his uncle guided his hand and they finished the picture together. His aunt was so pleased with the boy. The third task was to get the money that was under the rosebush. So the next day he came over and dug up her favorite rosebush. At first she was mad that he dug up her roses, but then she saw the box. She opened the box and there was 10,000 dollars in it.

I was glad she got the money. I probably would not recommend this book to seventh graders because it's not very challenging. It only took me an hour to read it and it had large print. It was a good book just not very long.
